Position: part-time  8 to 12 lesson per week

The German European School Singapore (GESS) is a multi-lingual, not-for-profit, German international school in Singapore with a distinct European flavour. As an accredited ‘Excellent German School Abroad’, the German Section of GESS offers all major German school leaving certificates. Our European Section offers tuition in English for students from grade 1 - 12 across all three IB programmes (the PYP, the MYP and the IB Diploma Programme) as an authorised IB World School. 

The Shadow Teacher/ Schulbegleitung, the subject teachers and Learning Support (LS) teacher share the teaching roles and responsibilities to co-support the student with significant barriers to his/her learning 

  • Work 1:1 with the student or in a small group of students
  • Support in subject classes throughout the day, adapting learning tasks as required
  • Observe the student working with others and monitor for opportunities to support
  • Identify situations when calming or recovery strategies may be needed for the student
  • Assist in determining learning goals based on data collection, observations of the student managing in the classroom
  • Ensure weekly communication and collaboration between the teaching team and parents is provided
  • Participate in LS team meetings, staff meetings and Professional Development days (when applicable)
  • Collaborate with the LS, Counsellor (if applicable) and subject teachers to develop and implement an Individual Learning Plan for the student 
  • Other related duties as assigned
  • Fluent spoken and written German, as you will need to support German speaking students that are attending our German speaking classes, 
  • Excellent communication skills; IT competencies
  • Relevant University degree and/or experience in an educational setting
  • Knowledge of and/or experience working with students with barriers to learning
  • Open-minded, flexible and collaborative
  • Eagerness to learn and innovate, seeking and implementing best practices
