Pre-School Specialist Educator: The Arts (Art Atelierista)
commencing 1 August 2019
40 hrs week

GESS has strong European foundations and believes in developing confident, forward-looking students through a celebration of respect, openness and inclusiveness. GESS is recognised for its languages and offers a choice between two main curricula: the German Abitur or the English-speaking International Baccalaureate (IB) programme. The school caters to students of all ages, starting from 18 months to graduation at 18 years. GESS is a private school association led by an elected committee and the school management. Currently, more than 300 full and part-time staff are employed at the school. A new purpose-built campus with brand new facilities will open in August 2018 at Dairy Farm Road.

We are looking for a dedicated and innovative arts specialist educator, who can transform our program. We are striving for a more inquiry-based approach to the arts that includes but is not limited to, fine arts. Our vision is, that through the arts the children can be supported in their inquiries, development and growth.  


  • Collaboratively plan and prepare art learning experiences which support the PYP units of inquiry and develop children skills, expression and appreciation for the arts. (from 18 months to 6 years old)
  • Create an inspiring and creative learning environment that promotes children’s agency, independence and allows for differentiation.
  • Plan and prepare documentation in relation to school curriculum, reports and portfolios
  • Plan and organise students and community events
  • Involvement in policy writing, curriculum reviews etc.
  • Communicate children’s learning and development with parents on a regular basis.


  • Must have a good command of English.  German language skills are an advantage.
  • Be enthusiastic and passionate when working with children, remaining alert and responsive to their needs and interests, modelling and supporting inquiry and play based learning.
  • Must have previous teaching experience in a pre-school setting; knowledge of pre-school curriculums, the IB PYP framework and the Reggio Emilia philosophy of education is desirable
  • Must have appropriate experience & qualifications in the arts field
  • Must be creative and imaginative in approach to learning and teaching
  • Must demonstrate strong work ethics & possess a positive working attitude and be a good team player
  • Demonstrate the highest levels of honesty, integrity and professionalism.
