Pre-School Educator (18 months to 3 years old)

The German European School Singapore (GESS) is a multi-lingual, not-for-profit, German international school in Singapore with a distinct European flavour. As an accredited ‘Excellent German School Abroad’, the German Section of GESS offers all major German school leaving certificates. Our European Section offers tuition in English for students from grade 1 - 12 across all three IB programmes (the PYP, the MYP and the IB Diploma Programme) as an authorised IB World School. Children aged 18 months onwards can enroll in our Preschool where children are following the PYP programme in German-speaking, English-speaking or bilingual groups. In addition to an outstanding academic education, GESS strives to teach students community values such as respect, openness and inclusion. Currently, more than 1600 students are learning at GESS supported by more than 400 full time and part time academic and administrative staff members. In August 2018 GESS moved to Dairy Farm Road to a modern new school campus located in a popular residential area at the edge of Singapore’s largest nature reserve and with very good access to the public transport system.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop respectful and collaborative relationships with children, families, colleagues and other members of the community
  • Ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all children and families
  • Fully responsible for running a toddler class, working in collaboration with other educators, planning projects based on children’s needs and interests
  • Planning and preparing documentation in relation to school curricula and portfolios
  • Involvement in policy writing, curriculum reviews etc.
  • Communicating information to parents about their child’s development and special activities and events regarding the children, whilst facilitating regular parent teacher conferences, parents’ evenings and other parents’ activities
  • Understand and work in accordance to school policies and procedures
Requirements:
  • To be enthusiastic and passionate when working with children, alert and responsive to their needs and interests
  • Must be proficient in English spoken and written language as classes will be conducted in English. German would be advantage.
  • Appropriate experience and teaching qualification
  • Must have previous teaching experience in a pre-school setting; knowledge of the Reggio Emilia philosophy is desirable
  • Must have experience in teaching hands-on and inquiry lead approaches as well as in a play based curriculum
  • Proficient oral & written communication skills
  • Have an engaging and charismatic disposition with a passion and talent to develop a love for life-long learning in young children
  • Must be creative in delivering lessons plans and children-lead inquiry based learning engagements
  • Must demonstrate strong work ethics & possess a positive working attitude and be a great team player
