Primary School EAL Teacher

GESS has strong European foundations and believes in developing confident, forward-looking students through a celebration of respect, openness and inclusiveness. GESS is recognised for its languages and offers a choice between two main curricula: the German Abitur or the English-speaking International Baccalaureate (IB) programme. The school caters to students of all ages, starting from 18 months to graduation at 18 years. GESS is a private school association led by an elected committee and the school management. Currently, there are 1650 students enrolled at GESS and more than 300 full and part-time staff are employed at the school. A new purpose-built campus with brand new facilities opened in August, 2018 at Dairy Farm Road.

Teaching in the English as an Additional Language (EAL) department:
  • Supervising and teaching small groups within a whole class or small group setting
  • Preparing lessons, lesson materials and resources
  • Assessing and reporting on student progress, including meeting with parents
  • Working collaboratively with and reporting to the EAL Teacher-Coordinator
  • Working collaboratively with homeroom teachers to support individual students and deliver EAL in line with curriculum
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • University degree; TESOL/ESL training and experience
  • Knowledge of and experience with IB-PYP a plus
  • Experience teaching children aged 5 to 11
  • Fluency in other languages a plus
  • Willingness and ability to learn and take direction
  • Flexibility, organisation skills and a caring attitude
