The German European School Singapore (GESS) is a multi-lingual, not-for-profit, international school in Singapore with a distinct European flavour. At our two green campus locations GESS provides international education to 1,550 students of more than 50 nationalities from Pre-School to Grade 12. Since its foundation in 1971, the school has evolved into a school with two sections: as an authorised IB World School our European Section offers tuition in English for students from three years old to high school across all three IB programmes, the PYP, the MYP and the IB Diploma. As an accredited ‘Excellent German School Abroad’, the German Section of GESS offers all major German school leaving certificates. GESS is a private school association led by an elected committee and the school management. Currently, more than 300 full and part-time staff are employed at the school.  In August 2018, GESS will move to a new site in central Singapore to a purpose built, brand new school campus.


  • 1st point of contact at the school for students, staff, parents and visitors
  • Re-direction to contact partners, unless enquiry can be answered directly
  • Support school activities and departments by providing standard information and explaining standard processes to external parties and visitors.
  • Presentation of School as service-orientated organisation
  • With a customer service focus, proactively assist parents, students, staff and visitors to the school
  • Mail & message collection and distribution, incl. E-mail to
  • Provide up to date, accurate school and campus information for parents; distribution of school information brochures
  • Overall responsibility for excellent presentation of the entire reception area, incl. telephone recordings
  • Coordinate cover for the front desks at both campuses during lunch break, absences and in case of medical leaves
  • Inform teachers about sick children not coming to school
  • Organise registration of late comers and early dismissals (students)
  • Allocation of KAL T&T invoices
  • Maintain up to date HR’s list of employee birthdays; source and complete greeting cards for birthdays; manage purchase & distribution of  Staff Birthday vouchers - Starbucks / Kinokuniya 
  • Distribution of forms to students, e.g. leave forms and event requests
  • Prepare and keep up-to-date folders, class lists and signs for emergency/fire drills
  • Manage Lost & Found of the school, disposing or donating uncollected items after 2 school weeks, where appropriate.
  • Update and maintain staff pigeon hole name tags
  • Taxi bookings for visitors
  • Other tasks as directed by the Director Marketing and Admissions


  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent German and English language skills to enable you to liaise with German and English speaking customers
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to work as part of a flexible team
  • Good computer skills (Office 365, Sharepoint)
  • Open mindedness to work in an international, multicultural environment
