Security Officer

The German European School Singapore (GESS) is a multi-lingual, not-for-profit, international school in Singapore with a distinct European flavour. GESS provides international education to more than 1,600 students of more than 50 nationalities from Pre-School to Grade 12. Since its foundation in 1971, the school has evolved into a school with two sections: as an authorised IB World School our European Section offers tuition in English for students from three years old to high school across all three IB programmes, the PYP, the MYP and the IB Diploma. As an accredited ‘Excellent German School Abroad’, the German Section of GESS offers all major German school leaving certificates. GESS is a private school association led by an elected committee and the school management. Currently, more than 400 full and part-time staff are employed at the school.  In August 2018, GESS moved to a new site in central Singapore to a purpose built, brand new school campus.

 
Responsibilities:
  • Man the security point at the main entrance to the campus, not leaving the security point until a formal handover has been made to the security guard on the subsequent shift.
  • Guard, patrol and monitor the premises to prevent theft, violence, and/or access by unauthorized personnel/vehicles.
  • Ensure buildings are locked at the close of operations each day, and unlocked in time for open of operations each morning.
  • Open buildings for authorized personnel as required
  • Direct and control vehicle/bus traffic on campus and on the main road if necessary and in accordance with written procedures.
  • Welcome and check the identity of visitors to GESS, providing visitor cards in exchange for photographic identification and maintaining accurate records of visitor entry/departure details.
  • Be aware of emergency procedures and the role and responsibilities as a security officers in the event of various emergency situations.
  • Work closely with Security Supervisor and ensure they are made aware of any security related concern.
  • Maintain an up to date security log and report any security related issues.
  • Monitor the Fire Command Centre systems and report any faults and/or emergency to superior/authorities.
  • Assist in card access enrollment and issuance.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections.
  • Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor or head of department.
Requirements:
  • At least 2 to 4 years of relevant working experience in similar role
  • Meticulous and team player
  • Able to work during weekends when required
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Possess a valid security license
