Marketing and Communications Department - commencing mid-October

The German European School Singapore (GESS) is a multi-lingual, not-for-profit, international school in Singapore with a distinct European flavour. At our two green campus locations GESS provides international education to 1,500 students of more than 50 nationalities from Pre-School to Grade 12. Since its foundation in 1971, the school has evolved into a school with two sections: as an authorised IB World School our European Section offers tuition in English for students from three years old to high school across all three IB programmes, the PYP, the MYP and the IB Diploma. As an accredited ‘Excellent German School Abroad’, the German Section of GESS offers all major German school leaving certificates. GESS is a private school association led by an elected committee and the school management. Currently, more than 300 full and part-time staff are employed at the school.  In August 2018, GESS will move to a new site in central Singapore (close to Hillview MRT) to a purpose built, brand new school campus.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility of all print and online design projects of GESS such as (but not limited to) yearbook, brochures, diaries, infographics, web banners and ads, flyer, banner, posters, merchandise, etc.
  • Designing, editing and producing high profile publications with Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Vendor management in view of working together with print-house to ensure the best branding of GESS, application of corporate identity and quality of print
  • Point of contact for all decisions regarding the design
  • Working on layouts and art working pages (FA) ready for print;
  • Proofreading (English) to produce accurate and high-quality work;
  • Demonstrating illustrative skills with rough sketches;
  • Keeping abreast of emerging technologies, particularly design programs 

Requirements:

  • Very good experience with producing online and print design projects (at least 3 years)
  • Professional in using InDesign/Illustrator/ Photoshop
  • Intercultural awareness and ability to relate well with people across all levels and cultures
  • Experience in local vendor management
  • Knowledge of preflighting files and pre-press process
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Driven and organized to deliver results and meet deadlines
  • Excellent writing skills in English (native level) and a talent for writing short articles.
  • Creative thinker in order to produce new ideas and concepts
  • Meticulous with an eye for details
  • Motivated and open to innovation
  • Team player
